Suzanne Fleming Wright

Suzanne F. Wright, 74, of Cambridge, Maryland passed away peacefully on Thursday evening, September 21, 2023, with her daughter, Angela Thomas and her husband John by her side at Autumn Lake Healthcare at Chesapeake Woods, Cambridge.

She was born in Dorchester County on January 11, 1949 to the late Fleming Outten and Evelyn Jean Oliphant Outten.

Suzanne attended school in Vienna and graduated from North Dorchester High School with the class of 1967. After graduating, she enrolled in the Cambridge Nursing School and graduated as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).  She worked as a nurse at the Eastern Shore State Hospital.  She later worked as a substitute teacher at Vienna Elementary School and after that she worked at Preston Trucking Company in Hurlock MD.  She was a member of the Vienna Methodist Church.

Suzanne enjoyed the beach and gardening.  Loved summers spent with her mother and girls in Ocean City. She liked to draw and several of her pictures were used in the "On the Nanticoke Heritage Cookbook".  Going to lunch and dinner with her family was a highlight in Suzanne’s life, her favorite was Eastern Shore Seafood!! She enjoyed shopping, watching western movies and spoiling her grandchildren.

Suzanne is survived by her daughters Angela S. Thomas and her husband John of East New Market and Lanette J. Tyler and her husband John of Florida; grandchildren Seth Thomas and his wife Carly, Logan Thomas and Miranda Lanier and her husband Darrell; great grandchildren Bandon Thomas and Wesley Lee Lanier; sister Stephanie Bradshaw; brother William “Bill” Outten and his wife Debbie; her close friends, Carla Spear, Elizabeth Gebert Flumer and Janet Messick.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 beginning 12:00 noon at Newcomb and Collins Funeral Home, Cambridge with Rev Susan Leight officiating.  A visitation with family will be held an hour prior to the service.

Interment will follow the service at East New Market Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jeff Harding, Lee Fairall, Troy Harrison, Seth Thomas and John Thomas.
