Thelma Emily Cook, 88, of Cambridge, Maryland passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2024 at Mallard Bay Care Center in Cambridge after a short illness.
Born in Cambridge, Maryland on September 21, 1935 she was the daughter of the late Herbert North, Sr. and Osceola Abbott North.
Thelma was raised in Dorchester County as a child and continued to live and work in the county as an adult. She worked in many restaurants including Shoals, Cambridge Yacht Club and the American Legion, Post #91 as a server and bartender. Thelma enjoyed talking to people and being employed in the restaurant business was a great way to do this.
She enjoyed shopping, cooking, traveling and eating her favorite food “Seafood”. Thelma loved animals, especially her dog Shadow.
Surviving her are children Barbara Harrison, Teresa Robinson (Steve) and Lisa Dodson (Brian); grandchildren John Harrison, Stephanie Joseph, Christie Wingate, Ashley Ellis, Tiffany Schmittinger and Brandon Dodson; 13 great grandchildren and one great-great grandson.
Preceded in her death along with her parents is a son Donald Keith Willey; brother Herbert North, Jr.; sisters Rebecca Trice and Mariam Willey.
A private interment will be held at Bucktown Cemetery.
