Veronica Lyne Cox, age 59, of Cambridge, MD, died Thursday, September 2, 2010 at the University of Maryland Medical Center, Baltimore, MD. She will be missed but generously donated her vital organs for the gift of life to give life to others through the Living Legacy Program.
Born December 11, 1950 in Unicoi, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Elisha Campbell and Bianca McKinney Campbell.
Veronica was raised a Southern Baptist. She loved nature and art. She was an avid reader and bird watcher keeping a special eye on hummingbirds and finches. Veronica had been a taxidermist in her earlier years. She liked flower and vegetable gardening and greatly enjoyed being an artist specializing in oils and watercolors.
Veronica was a volunteer at the VFW Post 5246, Federalsburg, MD. She also was a member of the Arbor Day Foundation.
Surviving are two children of her previous marriage to Tommy Cox, Deborah Ann Jackson and her husband Philip, Jr., Jeremy Lee Cox and his wife Amy; three grandchildren Amanda Lyne Jackson, Brandon Lee Cox, Caitlyn Marie Cox, all of Cambridge, MD; a sister; three brothers and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death besides her parents was a sister and a brother.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, September 10th at Curran-Bromwell Funeral Home, P.A., where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Officiating at the service will be The Rev. Randall Blackmon. Inurnment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Philip Jackson, Jr., Michael Ruf, Michael Free and Brandon Cox.
So that others can experience the gift of life, in lieu of flowers memorial offerings may be made in Veronica's memory to Living Legacy, 1730 Twin Springs Rd., Suite 200, Baltimore, MD 21227.
