Walter Bloom, Sr

Walter Plowman Bloom, Sr., age 62, of Cambridge, MD, died on Thursday, December 30, 2010 at his home.

Born on April 21, 1948 in Cambridge, MD he was the son of the late Howard Urban “Buddy” Bloom and Hazel Burton Bloom Bramble.

Walt, as he was known, was educated in Dorchester County. He had worked for Connelly Containers and Robo Wash. For twenty years he owned and operated Walt’s Garage. He then worked for Hi Tech Plastics and most recently at Harley-Davidson in Seaford, DE, the latter of which was his passion.

Walt always loved motorcycles and participated in several Poker Runs for various benefits. In his younger years his business Walt’s Garage sponsored stock cars with the Walls Racing Team where he was also a member of the pit crew.

Walt also liked country music, fishing and NASCAR. He collected baseball cards and various memorabilia.

Surviving is a daughter Lisa M. Wilson (Jack) of East New Market, MD; a son Walter P. “J.R.” Bloom, Jr. (Brooke) of Cambridge, MD; a brother Howard Bloom (Evelyn) of Secretary, MD; three grandchildren Allen, Kassi Jo, Jack, Jr. and an additional grandchild soon; several nieces, nephews, cousins; very special friends; and all his special friends within the motorcycle community. Preceding him in death besides his parents was a sister Sandra Meredith (John).

Walter’s final wish was to be cremated and that folks attending his service come in Harley Davidson or casual attire. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 6th at Curran-Bromwell Funeral Home, P.A., 308 High St., Cambridge, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Officiating at the service will be family friend Steve Bloodsworth. Inurnment will be held privately.

Memorial offerings may be made to the funeral home to assist in paying for his final expenses
