William C. Shenton

William C. Shenton, 82, of Woolford, Maryland passed away peacefully at his daughter’s home in Princess Anne on Wednesday, March 15, 2023.

Born on October 25, 1940, he was the son of the late Charles and Edna Dixon Shenton.

Bill attended and graduated from the local schools in Dorchester County.  In 1960 he joined the U.S. Marine Corps to serve his country.  He was honorably discharged in 1964.

He was employed with John W. Tieder from 1964 to 1980 before becoming disabled after suffering a stroke.  He ended his years with Tieder as a Foreman.

Bill met the love of his life Virginia Rose George and even thou they never married he considered her his wife. Virginia died on February 5, 1993.

“Mr. Bill” as he was known to many always had a beautiful garden and loved to give away his vegetables.  He loved to ride his bike and go for walks.  Bill could be seen picking wild asparagus on Harrisville Rd.  When he was still working for Tieder’s he loved to be part of card games with the ride home from a job.

Bill enjoyed going to Madison Bay on Thursdays to have a few beers with his friends.  His love for animals led him to feed the birds and squirrels and his outside cats.

Surviving him is a daughter Gale Coates; grandson David Simmons; 3 step-children Jackie Gambrill (Jimmy), Charles George (Linda) and Terry George (Deanna); a brother Bobby Shenton; step-grandson Kevin George with numerous other step-grandchildren and several step- great grandchildren.

Preceding him in death besides his parents and the love of his life Virginia was his step-daughter Kay Sharipo and a brother Leslie Shenton.

There will be no services at this time.
